On January 31, Bakhtiyar Kadyrbergenov, a blogger and founder of the Ayama.uz website, was found guilty at a trial in Bukhara under Part 3 of Article 244 (organization of mass riots) and Paragraph D of Part 3 of Article 277 (hooliganism involving resistance to a government or public official charged with protecting public order or to other citizens suppressing hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sentenced to seven years in prison.
