In Elista, unknown persons beat up Badma Byurchiyev, the correspondent of Caucasian Knot, near his home. Four or five men surrounded Byurchiyev and started hitting him on the head, and when he fell down, they hit him several more times. In the end, one of them asked Burchiev in a swear word: «Will you [write, speak] again?». The attackers were dressed in dark clothes, they were wearing caps and hoods, so the journalist could not see their faces. Byurchiyev links the attack to his journalistic and professional activities. His friends suggest that it was because of a publication in Burchiev’s Telegram channel Chronicles of Zangezi, in which he made a joke about the head of Kalmykia Batu Khasikov.
