Deputy Akim of the Atyrau region Kayrat Nurlybayev filed a pre-trial claim with the police department of Atyrau to bring to criminal responsibility the correspondent of Ak Zhaiyk Farhat Abilov and editor-in-chief Azamat Maytanov for violation of privacy and laws of Kazakhstan on personal data and their protection. The reason was the media outlet’s publication that the Deputy Akim was involved in a criminal case investigated under the article «Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property». Later, Nurlybayev withdrew his claim.
