The Bishkek City Court started to consider appeals by the lawyers of 11 detained journalists to change their preventive measure. The journalist will be detained until March 13, 2024. Together with other arrested journalists of the Temirov Live team, she is charged under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (calls for mass riots). The criminal article provides for up to 8 years in prison. On January 16, Ayke’s flat was searched, then she was detained, interrogated, and placed in a temporary detention centre, where she was held for a fortnight. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the reason for the case was one of the materials of Temirov Live in December 2023, where experts found signs of calls for mass rios.
