The SMM editor of Masa Media Aydar Yelkeyev was detained in Astana outside the Russian Embassy. On that day, human rights defender Artur Alkhasov planned to hold an individual action in support of Ukraine near the embassy. Aydar told the news agency Adil Soz that he had just approached the embassy and was immediately detained (he did not have his editorial licence or the distinctive signs of a media worker with him). Aydar Yelkeyev spent about an hour in the police station of the Almaty district of Astana. He was questioned, fingerprinted, and photographed.
