The Shohmansur District Court of Dushanbe sentenced journalist Avazmat Gurbatov (Abdullo Gurbati) to seven years and six months in a strict regime colony. He was found guilty under three articles with which he had been charged. Another court session on Gurbati's criminal case took place on October 4 in the administrative building of the pre-trial detention behind closed doors. The Shohmansur District Court found the independent journalist guilty under Part 1 of Article 328 (use of violence against a representative of authority), Part 1 of Article 330 (insulting a representative of authority), and Part 2 of Article 307(3) (organization of extremist organization) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan and sentenced him to a prison term on the whole.
