The Binagadi District Court of Baku, having satisfied the submission of the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for 4 months for the journalist Avaz Zeynally. Lawyer Elchin Sadygov was arrested for the same period. Zeynally is accused under the Article 311.3.3 (bribe-taking on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, and Sadygov under Article 32.5, 311 (aiding and abetting in bribery). According to their lawyers, the prosecutor's office initiated criminal proceedings on the basis of reports and media reports, and there is no specific complainant in the case. Sadygov and Zeynally deny the charges and link the criminal prosecution with their professional activities.
