On April 1, the owner of the 5 TV company Armen Tavadyan filed a lawsuit against the chairman of the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression Ashot Melikyan, demanding a refutation of the factual data considered to be libel and compensation for damage of AMD 2,000,000. The reason for the lawsuit was the thought expressed by Melikyan and published on the Aravot.am website (it was inaccurately quoted): «I don’t think Armen Tavadyan was arrested for silencing the 5 TV channel. It is known how he hit the demonstrator with a bottle, how he tried to pay a bribe». The lawsuit proceedings were initiated, and the trial has started.
