The security officials detained the journalist when he was covering a protest action. He was taken to the police department, charged with participation in an unauthorized event (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus) and held in the detention centre until trial. On November 2, the court found the journalist guilty based on the police report and fined him 30 basic amounts. Artsiom Bahaslauski was also declared a suspect in a criminal case under Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order).
