The Neftekamsk Magistrate Court sentenced Gelfanov to 140 hours of correctional labour for “causing minor harm to health (Paragraphs “C” and “D”, Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code). On 27 August, 2020, was involved in a clash with security guards at the Neftekamsk administration building, after they refused him entry to a Territorial Election Commission meeting. The journalist was accused of using pepper spray.
