The journalists of 29.ru Yaroslav Varenik and Anton Danilov were detained in the village of Oktyabrskoye, Arkhangelsk Region, which Vladimir Putin was due to visit. They were writing a report on how the village lives and communicating with local residents. The journalists were detained near the enterprise Putin was to visit. The law enforcers were led by a man in civilian clothes, whom they addressed as «general». According to Varenik and Danilov, they «came under suspicion» because they were able to take a taxi to the place where Putin was to visit. The law enforcers took away the journalists’ phones and deleted all photos and videos. The journalists, along with the taxi driver, were released from the police after being questioned.
