The Second Eastern District Military Court has sentenced journalist Anna Zueva, in absentia, to six years in a general-regime penal colony. She has also been banned for three years from publishing material on the internet and from administering websites, channels, chats, or groups. Zueva was found guilty of “justifying terrorism” and of failing to comply with the requirements imposed on a “foreign agent”. The charges stem from a post on her Telegram channel commenting on a drone attack on an aviation regiment in the Irkutsk region. Zueva was added to Russia’s register of “foreign agents” in October 2024. She worked for ten years at state television in Buryatia and resigned from the ATV television channel in 2019, citing censorship.
