Police officers prevented journalists from entering the courtroom during the trial of the former director of Belgazprombank, Sergei Karmyzov. This was allegedly due to the number of people already in the courtroom and “the safety of the participants in the criminal process.” At previous hearings, when witnesses spoke, journalists and other witnesses were allowed in. The hall was half empty. The day the interrogation of the accused was scheduled to begin, security guards blocked the entrance into the hall.
