According to the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ), political prisoner and journalist Andrzej Poczobut was placed in a solitary confinement-type cell for six months on 23 August, until February 2026. In September, correspondence with Poczobut was again cut off for an extended period, which may indicate that he was held in a punishment cell. The journalist is also not receiving any financial or food parcels, and his rations in the solitary confinement-type cell have been reduced. After her last visit to Poczobut in the Novopolotsk colony on 23 September, Chair of the Union of Poles in Belarus, Angelika Boris, noted that he had lost a significant amount of weight and weighed 73 kilograms, which she described as a “critically low figure”. Angelika Boris reported a general deterioration in the political prisoner’s health, including high blood pressure and episodes of arrhythmia. She also mentioned that he recently underwent surgery to remove skin ulcers.
