The Tomsk District Court has partially upheld businessman Rinat Aminov’s lawsuit against journalist Andrey Ostrov for the protection of his honour and reputation, ordering Ostrov to pay 70,000 roubles (€745.20) and to publish a retraction. Aminov had initially sought 100 million roubles over articles concerning the bankruptcy of Tomsk businesses and a fabricated claim that he had divorced a judge of the Arbitration Court. In addition, the court awarded a further 20,000 roubles for the unauthorised publication of Aminov’s photograph.
