On February 16, mass searches in the flats of journalists and human rights activists took place across the country. The Investigative Committee said that it had initiated the searches in a criminal case on actions that grossly violate public order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). The sanction was issued by Deputy Prosecutor General Dzmitry Hora. In the morning, officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption came to Andrey Myadzvedzeu’s flat. As a result of the search, a smartphone, business papers, a white-red-and-white flag, and a vest with the inscription «Press» were seized from the journalist.
