About 50 media workers were detained on the evening of August 27 in Minsk at Freedom Square and Independence Square. The security forces, in plain clothes, loaded all journalists in minibuses without registration numbers and brought them to the local police station allegedly for a document check. The police held journalists for several hours. In addition to documents, journalists were forced to show what was inside their phones. The police officer drew up administrative reports on those who refused to inspect their smartphones and left them in the temporary detention facility until the trial.
