The Minsk City Court sentenced Andrei Fomin to 7 years in prison, to be served in a high security penal colony. He was charged under three articles of the Criminal Code: Part 3 of Article 361 (calling for sanctions), part 1 of Article 342 (participation in actions grossly violating public order), part 3 of Article 361-1 (creation of an extremist organization). After his arrest, it was reported that he was the editor and author of articles for the samizdat network "Vestniki", which was recognized as an "extremist organization" 45 days after he was first arrested. The verdict was handed down by Judge Angela Kostyukevich.
