The National Security and Defence Council has approved the imposition of a full package of sanctions against Anatoly and Olha Shariy, the latter's mother, Alla Bondarenko, and the editor-in-chief of the pro-Russian website Strana.ua Ihor Huzhva. These decrees oblige Internet providers to block websites and pages in social networks which are linked to the sanctioned people, in particular, websites Strana.ua and Shariy.net, as well as YouTube channels and pages of Anatoly and Olha Shariy in other social networks. In February 2021, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that Shariy was suspected of committing high treason. The agency assumes that Shariy acted at the order of foreign structures and that his actions were aimed at destabilizing the situation in Ukraine.
