On February 16, mass searches in the flats of journalists and human rights activists took place across the country. The Investigative Committee said that it had initiated the searches in a criminal case on actions that grossly violate public order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). The sanction was issued by Deputy Prosecutor General Dzmitry Hora. At 7.20 AM, the officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption and the Tsentralny District Police Department of Homyel came to the flat of Anatol Hatouchyts. As a result of a four-hour search, three laptops, his wife’s tablet, digital drives, diaries and notebooks with work records, as well as the white-red-and-white flag, the flag of Ukraine, etc. were seized from the journalist.
