Freelance journalist and activist Anar Abdullayev was detained by the police. According to his colleague Mina Alyarly, on October 5, the police came to the journalist's apartment twice, demanding to come to the Narimanov District police department. On October 5, the journalist came to the district police department, leaving his phone with his relatives. Sometime later, he received a call on his phone demanding to be brought to the police station. «We were told by the police that Anar is accused of committing administrative offenses under Article 535.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (disobedience to the police) and Article 510 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (petty hooliganism). Anar came to the police himself, how could he disobey?», – said Alyarly. Relatives believe Abdullayev was detained because of criticism of the authorities on social media. It is also known that the journalist was interrogated at the police station.
