On April 5, 2023, the Federal Penitentiary Service officers came to the apartment of the civil journalist of Crimean Solidarity Amet Suleymanov, who was under house arrest, and took him into custody in connection with the entry into force of the court sentence of imprisonment for 12 years. He was subsequently taken to the Bakhchisarai temporary detention center. Amet Suleymanov has numerous diseases, including a heart defect. On February 27, 2023, the UN Committee against Torture, in an interim decision, asked the Russian authorities to suspend the execution of the sentence of real imprisonment. The international organisation insists on conducting a comprehensive medical examination and providing the necessary treatment.
