On July 3, by a ruling of the Saryagash District Court of the Turkestan Region, the editor-in-chief of S-Inform Amangeldy Batyrbekov was arrested for 20 days on charges of libel (Article 73-3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The administrative trial was initiated on the application of the member of the Majilis Bolatbek Nazhmetdinuly, and the reason for the application was Batyrbekov’s Facebook post of March 10 «Is it corruption or what?». The Majilisman believes that the journalist deliberately spread false information about him by writing that several years ago B. Najmetdinuly was a suspect in a criminal fraud case. Batyrbekov denies the accusations.
