The Supreme Court of the Republic of Kalmykia increased the imprisonment term for the former employee of the City Hall of Elista Altan Ochirov for publications about the war in Ukraine on the Telegram channel "Vol'nyy ulus" from 3 to 5 years. He is also banned from holding public and municipal positions for three years after his release. Ochirov was charged with publications about looting and losses of the Russian army, as well as a video about the Russian military shooting of a car with Ukrainian pensioners. According to investigators, Ochirov created and administered the Telegram channel "Vol'nyy ulus" from his work computer. He did not deny his involvement but claimed that other people posted the publications attributed to him. The convict intends to seek recognition of his innocence in the cassation instance.
