A third criminal case has been opened against Alsu Kurmasheva, the journalist of the Tatar-Bashkir service of Radio Liberty. She is charged under Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (spreading «fakes» about the Russian army) for her participation in the publication of the book «No to War. 40 stories of Russians opposing the invasion of Ukraine». In October, Kurmasheva was sentenced to a fine in a criminal case for failing to notify of her second citizenship. She is also accused of failing to fulfil her duties as a «foreign agent» (Part 3 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The journalist has been in pre-trial detention since October 23, 2023.
