On April 18, the investigative court in Almaty issued a warrant for arrest for two months against civic activist Alnur Ilyashev, detained by police on Friday, April 27, on suspicion of “dissemination of deliberately false information during the state of emergency”. According to Ilyashev’s lawyer, the basis for the charge is a decision of the court in 2019 on a lawsuit by the Nur Otan party against three activists – Ilyashev, M. Turymbetov and S. Zakirova. The court pronounced the information they disseminated as not corresponding to reality. After the detention of Ilyashev, searches were conducted at his home and the home of his parents.
