The Kyzyl City Court has sentenced Tuvan journalist and blogger Alla (Aletfina) Dongur-ool to three years in prison on charges of extortion, under clause "b" of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Russian Criminal Code. Investigators allege that Dongur-ool, along with businesswoman Evgenia Khertek, threatened to release compromising information about a local businessman unless he transferred the lease rights to a land plot and paid 300,000 rubles. Dongur-ool denied the accusations, insisting the case was fabricated.
