A case was opened against Tomsk journalist and politician Alexey Schitik on «fakes» about the army (Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). On August 1, Federal Security Service officers came to his parents’ apartment in Asino, Tomsk Region, and confiscated all of their mobile devices. The case was initiated because of publications with «deliberately false information» about the financing of the Russian army, civilian casualties in Ukraine, and crimes in Bucha, which had been published in the «Forest Patrol Asino» group on Odnoklassniki. Schitik emigrated from Russia in 2018 because of threats.
