On November 21, the Criminal Court of the Yunusabad district of Tashkent under the chairmanship of Fatima Ismailova found civil activist and blogger Alexey Garshin guilty under Part 2 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (insult) and sentenced him to pay UZS 108 million (equivalent to USD 9,570) to the state. The basis for the criminal case was the statement of the administrator of the Telegram channel «Patanatomy of the country Uz» Shahida Salomova. Salomova herself explained the complaint filed against Garshin by the fact that in January of this year, when she commented on some video of Alexey Garshin, he allegedly did not like the criticism and insulted her.
