Instagram blogger Alexandra Osipova was brought to administrative responsibility for violation of the law on rallies. On January 9, the court of first instance found her guilty of organising illegal rallies and imposed a fine of KZT 153,150 (approximately USD 350). On January 26, the court of appeal reclassified the article, finding the blogger guilty of participating in an illegal rally. The fine was reduced to KZT 91,890 (about USD 260). The reason for the charge was a live broadcast on a social network, which Osipova organised from a square in Ust-Kamenogorsk on January 5 (during the days of mass riots that began in Kazakhstan).
