The Baranovichi District Court and the City of Baranovichi has recognised as extremist information materials the Instagram account of Alexandra Khanevich, a blogger and political émigré from Grodno. Alexandra Khanevich left Belarus due to political persecution. In exile, she began running her own blog in which she talks about how to start a new life in a new country at the age of 70. On the basis of the court’s decision, the Belarusian Ministry of Information has added the internet resource to the “Republican List of Extremist Materials”. Under Belarusian law, the distribution and storage of materials recognised as extremist entail administrative liability for both publishers and users.
