June 19, the last day of collecting signatures for alternative candidates, ended with spontaneous rallies across the country. The police detained 13 journalists in Minsk, Mogilev, and Babruysk who were covering the protests. «Chains of solidarity» began to form in many cities of the republic after the arrest of Viktar Babaryka, who was considered one of the main opponents of Alexander Lukashenko in the presidential race.
