The Presnensky District Court of Moscow has sentenced Alexander Ustinov, a Ural-based political technologist and author of Telegram channels, to 14 years in a strict regime colony. Ustinov was accused of extortion (Paragraphs A and B of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill, fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against the Ventprom factory and a representative of Sima-land Nikolay Chufarov, and slander (Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against VTB Bank because of articles on the website Ustav.net. He was also prosecuted for the distrubution of pornographic materials (Paragraph B of Part 3 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) by Alexander Khinstein, a State Duma deputy and former advisor to the director of the National Guard. Ustinov has been under arrest since late 2018.
