The Presnensky District Court of Moscow sentenced Alexander Ustinov, a Ural political technologist and author of Telegram channels, to 14 years in a strict regime colony. Ustinov was accused of extortion (Paragraphs A and B of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code) from the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill, fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code), against the Ventprom plant and the representative of the Sima-Land company Nikolay Chufarov, and libel (Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code) against VTB Bank because of his articles on the website Ustav.net. A case has also been opened against him under the article on illegal circulation of pornographic materials (Paragraph B of Part 3 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code), the complainant of which was Alexander Khinshtein, a State Duma deputy and former adviser to the director of the National Guard. Ustinov has been under arrest since the end of 2018.
