The Presnensky District Court of Moscow sentenced Ural-based political technologist and author of Telegram channels Alexander Ustinov to 14 years in a strict regime colony because of his articles on the website Ustav.net. Ustinov was accused of extortion (Paragraphs A and B of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) from the Arkhangelsk pulp and paper mill, fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against the plant Ventprom and the representative of the company Sima-land Nikolay Chufarov, libel (Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against VTB Bank. A case has also been opened against him on illegal circulation of pornographic materials, the complainant of which was Alexander Khinshtein, a State Duma deputy and former adviser to the director of the National Guard. Ustinov has been under arrest since the end of 2018.
