Police detained Alexander Mikrukov while he was filming a protest on his phone. He was taken to the police station, where he was accused of taking part in an “unauthorised event” (Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code). Before the trial, he was kept in solitary confinement for almost two days. On 25 January, judge Anastasia Achalova of the Leninsky district of Minsk, found the journalist guilty and sentenced him to 15 days in prison based on a police report.
