Riot police officers detained the journalist in a pharmacy store, where Chigir was waiting for his wife from work. Before that, the journalist filmed the moment of violent detention of people in the street on his phone. During the detention, he was beaten. The journalist was taken to the district police department, where he was also beaten, insulted, and threatened. He was drawn up a report on violation of the law on mass events (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus) and held in custody until the trial. On August 11, the court found him guilty and arrested him for 15 days.
