53-year-old freelance journalist Aleksandr Ignatyuk was convicted in a Stolin regional court on the 5th of April. Ignatyuk, a political of conscience, was found guilty of organising protests in Stolin and Minsk, slander of President Lukashenko, and blackmail. Ignatyuk partially pled guilty to the first charges but denied the charge of blackmail. Judge Sergey Nasenya sentenced him to 6 years in a high-security prison, and fined him 200 basic amouts (8000 rubles). The court was in session from the 15th of March and took place behind closed doors. Ignatyuk was first arrested on the 18th of July 2023.
