The journalist was snatched by riot police at the pharmacy, where he was expecting his wife. Before that, the journalist filmed the harsh detention of people on the street on his phone. He was beaten during the arrest. Chigir was taken to the ROVD, where he were also beaten, insulted and threatened. A protocol was drawn up on violation of the legislation on mass events and the journalist was kept at a police station before the trial. On 11 August, the court found the journalist guilty and arrested him for 15 days.
