Late in the evening, police officers came to the home of Aleh Suprunyuk and took him away without explaining the reason for his detention. Only the next day his relatives learned that the journalist was charged with an administrative offence for allegedly distributing extremist materials (Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). On July 8, the court declared Suprunyuk guilty and punished him with a fine. The journalist was kept behind bars from the moment of detention until the trial.
