It became known that on 22 January in Brest, freelance journalist Aleh Suprunyuk was detained. In the morning, security forces arrived at his home to conduct a search, during which his computer, phone, and other data storage devices were confiscated. The journalist was taken in for interrogation, after which he was placed in custody and held in a detention centre. According to preliminary information, Oleg Suprunyuk has been charged with “participation in an extremist organisation” (Art. 361-1 of the Criminal Code of Belarus) for collaborating with media outlets deemed extremist by the authorities.
