The Tsentralny District Court of Minsk sentenced the editor-in-chief of the Belarusian-language newspaper Novy Chas Aksana Kolb to 2.5 years of imprisonment in an open prison. Judge Dzmitry Karsiuk found the journalist guilty under Part 1 of Article 342 (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Aksana was released in the courtroom after the verdict. She will be kept on her own recognizance until she is sent to serve her sentence.
