A Kulob city court sentenced the editor-in-chief of the publication 'Pike' Akhmad Ibrokhim to 10 years in jail. The sentence was handed down on the 10th of January. Ibrokhim was arrested in the middle of August in 2024 and was charged with 'bribing the head of the State committee for National Security', 'extortion' and 'extremism'. In a letter written in custody which he addressed to the Speaker of the upper chamber of the Tajik parliament, the mayor of Dushanbe and the son of the Tajik President, he denied the allegations, stating that he had never given nor received bribes, and had fought extremism all his life.
