On May 27, the Qashqadaryo Regional Court held an open trial of three Effect.uz media correspondents associated with the case of the blogger Otabek Sattoriy. Journalist Akbar Nurimbetov is charged under Article 139 (libel), Article 140 (insult), Article 219 (resistance to an official or a person performing a civil duty), and Article 236 (interference in the investigation or resolution of legal cases) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The criminal case against the journalists of the media was initiated on April 7, 2021. The journalists went to the judge with a request to be admitted to the open trial of the blogger, to which, contrary to the law, they were not permitted.
