The editorial office of the online media Ak Zhaiyk received a pre-trial claim demanding to publish a refutation of the article about the Deputy Akim of the Atyrau region K. Nurlybayev becoming a defendant in a criminal case. In the complaint, the lawyer of the Deputy Akim claims that Ak Zhaiyk violated the principle of presumption of innocence of K. Nurlybayev, and in addition «humiliated the honour and dignity of a person involved in criminal proceedings». In its response, the editorial office said: «The newspaper gave objective information that a criminal case is being investigated against the Deputy Akim of the Atyrau region Nurlybaev Kairat Eskabylovich... (...) After publication on our website, the press service of the Akimat of the Atyrau region officially confirmed on the same day that K. Nurlybayev is under investigation, specifying some details and numbers».
