Journalist and first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party of Tajikistan Ahmadshokh Komilzoda has been detained in Dushanbe. His family members are unavailable for comment, and the law enforcement agencies are also not officially commenting on the situation. On June 27, a source in Tajikistan’s law enforcement agencies told Radio Ozodi on condition of anonymity that Ahmadshokh Komilzoda had been held in a pre-trial detention centre since June 15. He declined to give other details. Another source close to Tajikistan’s Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed Komilzoda’s detention, adding that his flat was searched on June 16 and the journalist’s computer and phone have been confiscated. According to him, «Komilzoda’s detention is related to the case of Saidjafar Usmonzoda». The source also said that «a criminal case has been opened against the deputy chairman of the Democratic Party», but did not know under which article.
