Public activist Abid Gafarov, who was sentenced to a year in prison, died a clinical death at the Penitentiary Service’s medical facility the previous day, his wife Elnura Gafarova told Turan. According to her, at first, the medics thought he had died, but then he was placed in the intensive care unit, where he regained consciousness after a cardiac massage. «He doesn’t remember all this, the doctors told him about everything», — the wife said after a phone conversation with her husband on December 23. Despite his high fever, Abid was kept in the colony for 10 days, although he asked to be transferred to a medical facility.
