The Yasamal District Court has concluded the hearing of a private criminal complaint against Abid Gafarov, head of the Baku Unity public association and host of the YouTube channel KİM.TV. Claims against him were brought by a group of veterans of the second Karabakh war. The judge found Gafarov guilty under Article 147.1 of the Criminal Code (libel) and Article 148 of the Criminal Code (insult) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and imposed a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment for each. Adding up both sentences, the court sentenced Gafarov to one year of imprisonment. The judge did not allow Gafarov and his lawyers to make a closing statement.
