The General Prosecutor’s Office gave details of the detention of Tajik journalists and bloggers. The blogger Zavkibek Saidamini was found to be involved with the extremist terrorist organization Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan and the extremist organization Group 24 (banned in the Republic of Tajikistan). A preliminary investigation is now ongoing. Another blogger, Abdusattor Pirmukhammadzoda, was summoned for questioning on July 9, where he was arrested for 10 days for «disobeying the police». The court ordered that he be arrested until July 19. Reporters Without Borders later reported that his family learned from the media on July 15 that he is now charged with «public calls for extremist activity.» He faces up to five years in prison.
