The Nishon District Criminal Court of the Qashqadaryo Region issued a verdict against 49-year-old blogger Abdulkhakim Abzhalilov on January 29, the press service of the regional courts told Gazeta.uz. According to the court, the head of Achchiq Haqiqat LLC and the administrator of the Telegram channel of the same name was found guilty of committing an offence under Paragraphs A and C of Part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (extortion committed repeatedly or by a dangerous repeat offender by prior conspiracy by a group of persons). The offence was committed in Qashqadaryo. Abzhalilov was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. In addition, he is obliged to pay UZS 1 million as compensation to one of the two victims.
